WELCOME TO OUR COMENIUS PROJECT BLOG


On 19th and 20th October 2009 Downshire Primary School in Hillsborough linked up with schools in Belgium Spain Sweden and Turkey as part of an EU scheme to create partnerships across Europe and improve education standards.


Teachers from Downshire Primary School will visit their partners and work on joint projects over the next two years through the Comenius programme, which is funded by the European Commission and managed in the UK by the British Council. The programme provides funding and professional development to enable students and teachers across Europe to work together and learn about each other’s culture and education methods.

Downshire Primary School will be working with Sant Cristofer in Spain, Bodaskolanin Sweden, Wilgenduin Basischol in Belgium and Gunduz Alp Ilkogretim Okulu in Turkey. They will be working together on a themed project entitled Eco Footprints which embraces the elements of Personal Health and awareness of the Environment. Pupils from all partner schools will become involved in joint activities land will be able to interact and create collective projects over the next two years.
